So what brought me to a raw food diet? Well, I thought about all the diseases that are endemic in the western world at the present time – cancer, diabetes, heart disease – and their reduced levels in tribal communities and cultures we regarded as more ‘primitive’ than our own, evolved into our disastrous self-destructive habits.
I thought about the animal kingdom, where these diseases are largely unknown – except amongst those we have exploitatively farmed for our needs, or domesticated as pets to be fed an unnatural and processed diet. I realized that a raw food diet and weight loss could go hand in hand. I wanted to see if there really were healthy recipes for weight loss.
I realized how many different industries and sectors in the world economy had a vested interested in keeping things manufactured, farmed, cooked and processed, so that other industries could also make money offering pharmaceuticals to fix us up, to make it all look and taste better, and more ironically to ‘help’ us all to diet and lose weight!
Health transformations
Some of the stuff I was reading was pretty extreme-feeling – I reckoned I’d always had a healthy skepticism about conspiracy theorists, and reckoned I was immune from all that kind of stuff. But I ended up reading Kevin Trudeau’s book Natural Cures They Don’t Want You To Know - I wasn’t the kind of person who reckoned ‘they’ were out to control the world and shut down opposing voices, but a lot of this stuff Trudeau was just plain correct about.
For example, I had a lot of problems with heartburn and acid reflux – and quite honestly, the amount of green stuff I was pushing my unaccustomed digestive system to cope with these days wasn’t helping in that regard, I found a lot of green juices and, upset stomachs, the antacids and the chewies and the endless prescription products that people get told they will have to take for the rest of their life to relieve their symptoms… and how simple food ingredients costing a few cents had simply eliminated the problem for me. I began to wonder what other health problems might be surmountable in similar, straightforward ways – that made no profit for anyone except the individual freed from the symptoms of disease. Was I becoming a raw vegetarian? How did this happen?!
It’s really was a discovery that lead into a lifestyle. The only problem became the raw food menu plan. I was strapped for time, just like I’m sure you are. I needed to quickly figure out how to make simple raw food diet recipes without investing hours in the kitchen. More on how I accomplished that soon.
